Piano Lessons
Description and Objectives
This method of teaching and coaching piano is focused on developing an efficient technique that enables you to use your body, arms, hands, and fingers to execute challenging musical passages in the easiest ways that best suits your body.
Lessons are either for newbies who are just starting to play the piano and want to enjoy performing good music while developing a natural and ergonomic technique, or for students who have been playing the piano for some years but are not happy with their progress and are experiencing problems with their practice.
Depending on the age of the student and his or her goals, a wide variety of piano repertoire is examined. This includes children’s music and music for the youth, such as The Snowman by Howard Blake or Tchaikovsky’s Album for the Youth, musical masterpieces from the great composers of the baroque, classical, and romantic eras, such as Bach, Hayden, Mozart, and Beethoven, examples of the colorful music of the 20th century and the music of our time, as well as folk music.
To gain a deeper perceptual understanding of music, piano pieces played by the students are analyzed melodically, harmonically, rhythmically, and structurally. Depth of analysis depends on student’s age, level, and interest.
In addition, for those students who are interested in creating their own music, applications of piano as a great tool for composition is discussed.
Below are examples of easy piano arrangements of Disney songs, pop songs, Christmas carols, and folk tunes in solo and 4-hand settings for beginner students. Images in the scores are borrowed from various online resources. You can listen to them and if you are interested in playing them, you can download the sheet music (score) of each song by right clicking on it and saving it as an image.
