Ali Nader

• Ali is a composer, pianist and sonic artist with a PhD in music composition from University of Calgary.

 

• In teaching piano, he puts an emphasis on correct technique and playing comfortably, as he believes it is the most overlooked factor in piano playing.

 

• In teaching composition, he starts with the subject of sound and human perception and highlights the importance of using both thinking (theory) and feeling (emotions) in writing music. As an expert of new music, he also encourages exploring new ideas.

 

• He strongly believes that students should play what they enjoy and write with musical material they emotionally connect with, and grow from there.

 

• Ali also has a strong background in the contrasting area of physics and math, which he combines with some of his musical ideas in his research.

 

• Ali is married to a physicist, and they have a three-year only little daughter.

Bahar Ehsani

Flute

• Bahar started her carrier as a music teacher at the age of 19.

 

• She holds a Bachelor’s degree in flute performance and a Master’s in Art’s Education from Simon Fraser University.

 

• She has extensive performance experience as a soloist, as well as in chamber and orchestral settings.

 

• Before moving to BC, Bahar was co-founder and manager at Re-Mi Academy of Music in Montreal.

 

• She has a special relationship with young kids and is an expert in childhood music education.

 

• Bahar is organized and thoughtful in her teaching methodology and believes in training well-rounded musicians who have great sense of music appreciation.

Roberta Romero

Violin

• Roberta has a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Calgary.

 

• She is passionate violinist with more than 15 years of teaching experience.

 

• Roberta’s lessons are based on the idea of a rounded music education. So throughout her lessons she works on violin technique, music notation, music theory, musicianship, and performance.

 

• She also encourages her students to play with their peers so they can be a part of a musical community and develop musical abilities that are important for chamber music playing.

 

• Roberta has been an active violinist in numerous orchestras in Mexico, US and Canada including, the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, Gatineau Symphony Orchestra, Kingston Symphony, Ottawa Jazz Orchestra, and Pembroke Symphony Orchestra.

Mehran Yaz

Piano

• Mehran started his music education at an early age working with some of the most prominent pianists in Iran, Armenia and Tajikistan, including Raphael Minaskanian, and Dilbar Hakimova.

 

• He teaches all levels from beginner to advanced, and his repertoire as a pianist covers a wide range of musical traditions, from Rameau to Mozart to Chopin.

 

• Mehran has more that 15 years of teaching experience and he was one of the co-founders of Re-Mi Academy of Music in Montreal.

 

• Besides his experience as a soloist, Mehran has extensive experience in the art of piano accompaniment.

 

• Mehran is married to Bahar (our flute teacher above) and together they have wonderful little one-year old boy.
